"The best moments in reading are when you come across something,
a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things,
that you’d thought special, particular to you. And here it is, set down by someone else,
a person you’ve never met, maybe even someone long dead.
And it’s as if a hand has come out, and taken yours."

i watched this movie ages ago (even had a proper crush on the indian dude and everything) and chanced upon this quote on
tumblr recently. i did enjoy the movie, it's much like Dead Poets Society, just less bleak but actually more messed up. anyhow, that's my book list for now. thanks amalina for temporary owenership of Grotesque, i remember when i was working at Borders we would all groan at new shipment for this book because they were usually bigass hardcovers, and there was nothing worse than hardcovers because, who
buys them? anyhow, hoping to finish these books before raya.
oh god, hari raya.
awesome snack to munch on while reading.
oreo truffles! if you read my latest lj post, i made a bunch of oreo truffles for nurul and i have a couple leftover. pretty easy to make, just crush oreos, add in cream cheese, roll into balls and refrigerate for a couple of hours. dip the chilled balls into melted white chocolate and let dry/refrigerate somemore (would recommend the latter). i decorated mine with some lavender candy melts that i had lying around. look ma, no oven needed!
my grandfather turned a grand age of 80 last thursday

i baked some cupcakes for the occasion, used a box mix and made some whipped chocolate ganache for frosting. initial plans to cleverly place the cupcakes into the number 80 failed on me when i got 20 cupcakes instead of the 24 the box stated (i needed 22 for the shape to look decent) so i made some last minute flag toppers.
pretty cute if i do say so myself lol.
its been crazy hazy this past few days right?

i'm surprised my asthma hasnt been acting up. the sky was really red this last saturday, i had London's Burning playing in my head the entire time. this was taken at toa payoh town park which was surprisingly
dodgy. light coming from lamppost + red sky backdrop = fake ass looking trees.
my parents and i are sorta redoing our dining room/living room. nothing too major, just a couple of new furnishings and a paint job. basically we wanted the area to appear more spacious and stuff. i suggested putting up a couple of wall shelves and whadya know, my old-fashioned father actually agreed. it felt kinda good, putting up everything ourselves, even if it did involve some shouting. we got a leveler and all, i had to measure to make sure everything was equal and let me tell you,
IT HARRRRRD.

for the wall opposite the dining table, we got a picture ledge instead of another wall shelf. it's just short of 2m and costs only 18$ (a wall shelf of similar length would have been 49$). it's basically for frames and stuff, inspired by
this and
this but the ultimate inspiration came from my
dream room. would you look at the light coming in from the windows? yes, definitely my ideal room (without the weird animal skin rug).

my fisheye flash is a goner so this might be the last roll...ever.
unless someone gets me a fisheye 2, so someone? anyone?
lets end this post on a cheery note

wish i had one of these to nom on right about now.
lol, one entry for the whole of July...there are no limits to my
slugthug life.
i've been watching a ton of movies, and i'm currently on a Criminal Minds marathon (i know right, another crime show nadia? really?) so when i'm not watching stuff, i'm reading stuff and when i'm not reading stuff, i'm baking stuff and when i'm not baking stuff, well you catch my drift.
in the meantime, here are some clickable links to tide you over
