ok, i have tons of backdated entries and photos but this is what im going to do, im going to update on the happenings of the past week before i
procrastinateforget.
last friday was so much fun, we had a steamboat dinner at my house.

there was so much food! prawns, squid, sliced fish, fishballs, crab sticks, chinese cabbage for the tom yam soup... teriyaki chicken, black pepper beef, lamb chops, carrots, bean sprouts and lots of bell peppers for grilling. a great thing was knowing that all that food cost less than a 1 person dinner buffet at seoul garden.... with loads of leftover to boot. imagine that! post dinner, nobody could move, we were all so stuffed and bloated. around 9.30pm, we dragged our full selves to go have coffee at the starbucks at thomson plaza (my 2nd fav starbucks!) sharing stories from primary school to secondary school to poly. was telling them about the
six degrees of separation theory, which somehow made a bit of sense. one example would be even if me and kham did not know each other, we would still have a point of contact. see, my cousin shikin went to school and had a crush on kham's brother. does this make sense?! the penguin asked a classic question as usual 'so who is me and kham's 6degree contact?'. ummm, me lah! stupzzz.
last saturday at my nyai's, my bibik brought over some suji that she made. i love suji, they are so plain yet delicious. my mom then decided to pass on some depressing news, that she would not be buying the suji she usually gets at johor (
my fav kind!) and when my bibik told me that making suji was easy breezy (beautiful),
i decided with much gusto that i must make them!

guys, flour+sugar+ghee, thats all you need to make these! i tried to recreate the ones that my mom usually gets. so what do you guys think? any orders? LOL! my dad said they look cute, i dont know what to feel, happy that he thinks they look nice or
weirded out that my dad said the word cute.
speaking of johor, i was craving the egg tarts from that one shop at
city square so i decided to make them

i know right, i too cannot pin point the exact moment when i became a domesticated housewife. the pastry looks so weird and thick because i don't have a rolling pin so i had to flatten and shape the dough with my palm loh. but they taste so goooood.
like a working man's creme brulee.
last night after break fast at my nani's, nabillah busted out the sparklers.

around 9, the guys watched the chelsea vs man u game while the gals were telling ghost stories. hmmm, i asked myself, i wonder if i could be interested in either any less than i did. lets see, 90mins of watching men chasing one ball or 90mins of hearing stories of 'oh this happened to a friend's in-law's sister's friend'. i almost passed out in excitement before i could reach a decision. in the end i opted to watch the soccer game, mostly for the eye candy (john o'shea quite cute hor). funniest moment was when one of my aunts screamed that led nabillah to scream which led me to scream! in my head i was thinking that perhaps a huge flying cockroach had entered the living room (which happened before!). tsk! it was only my mom making a scary face while telling a scary story. bah!
moving on, i am happy because i finally have my handphone back! see, 2 months ago i got a new
phone that i love but after a month the qwerty keyboard wasnt working right so i sent it for repairs and finally got it back (after 3weeks6days!) just now. now all i am excited about is for my bowler hat to arrive! ordered it online about a month ago (a bowler hat that costs less than $25?! must.have.now.) so it's due anyday now. thus finally i can recreate the english gentleman look (i jest).
i cant wait for puasa and raya to be over, but thats just me it seems. everyone else seems to be super excited about raya this year. all i can think about is how i have to tell people that i am not working yet! i dunno what's worst, telling people that im unemployed (so... anak aku tak dapat duit ah ni?) or the 'eh eh, dah besar eh anak kau ali! kasi lah sikit kat mak kau!'. sorry but i have to say this, malay makciks are so predictable. i remember one time, i gave a
daria face when confronted by a over enthusiastic makcik and she immediately followed the fat comments with 'tapi muker cantik, macam heroine hindustan!'. haahaa makcik, makcik, nak bedek pon jgn ah sampai heroine hindustan pon terkluar seh. but i do think that the comments do not affect me the way they do say, when i was 16? just like at that moment i cannot help being fat, i understand that at that moment they cannot control their mouths. what to do? suck it up loh (see that works both ways lol)
ok, how's
that for an update? ambik kau!

sorry penguin, wont be making anymore nutella related recipes. my foray into nutella-land has ended, it has left me bored and itching to make something more.... something more. think im gonna crawl slowly into the toffee and caramel world.

nadia c: eh so what the heck is iftar?
nabila v: its buker puase
nadia c: so why dont people just say break fast or buker
nabila v: being fancy loh, like instead of selamat hari raya they would say eid mubarak
nadia c: ooooohhhhh. chey!
lol i shock a lot of people when they find out i was in higher malay in primary school. had a conversation with my nyai and was trying to desperately remember what gun is in malay and i ended up saying "bang bang" with this
hand sign. kesian eh, macam tak pegi sekolah.
oh speaking of sekolah, happy birthday
cheecher!
